The Vortex ExhaustTM Resonators outperform any other resonator/muffler for marine applications and can be used petrol or diesel engines vessels. This is particularly beneficial for fishing vessels because they had fuel savings and trawled with bigger nets.
We have already converted exhaust systems on several marine vessels to Vortex ExhaustTM systems. These tended to be projects that involved a few weeks of exhaust fabrication. After fitting a Vortex ExhaustTM Resonator the vessels saved up to one-quarter of their fuel for the same power output. Obvious applications are fishing boats, leisure boats and barges, but Vortex Exhausts are not limited to just those applications. We have special designs and materials to allow vortex technology to be used on very powerful diesel engines that you might find on a tugboat up to 3000 horsepower.
As well as outperforming other exhaust systems Vortex ExhaustTM Resonators also takes up less room. Another advantage is that in some applications the smaller size of the Vortex ExhaustTM Resonator could mean there is no need to cut holes in vessels to get exhaust parts into the engine room if access is restricted. Vortex ExhaustTM Resonator selection varies according to the power of the engine. For fishing boats normally the size required would be between 15cm and 20cm diameter body and approximately 50cm long. For a barge the muffler can be as small as a vortex car muffler, thus saving space and being easier to place. The vortex exhaust engineers can help with insulation and exhaust system design to ensure you get the most from the product.
See the photographs opposite. This is a Vortex ExhaustTM Resonator 60cm diameter and over 2.5 metres long. These are a special order and currently require up to six weeks to be made by our craftsmen.
Some of the bigger vessels fitted with Vortex ExhaustTM Resonator have exceeded more than 70cm in diameter and more than 2.5 meters in length. The warranty period of our products for this application is 3-years. All products are manufactured inside and out from 316 marine grade stainless steel. As well as saving fuel the Vortex ExhaustTM Resonator will reduce your carbon footprint significantly.
