Vortex™ Performance Catalysts.

Vortex™ offer quality 100cpsi cats and 200 cpsi universal performance cats, which come standard with a stainless steel monolith. Having fewer cells per square inch improves the gas flow through the catalytic converter, and can boost performance by up to 15bhp. The steel monolith gives extra longevity, especially on lowered vehicles.

FIA approved catalysts are available.

Catalytic Converter Maintenance

A blocked or semi-blocked catalytic converter increases the running costs of your vehicle.

All catalytic converters can get blocked and when they do they cost you money and damage the environment. For these reasons, Vortex recommend adding a high quality catalytic converter cleaning additive to your fuel tank on a regular basis. This is a simple and cost effective way of keeping your catalytic converter working to its utmost capacity. You should use this once a year and you can buy it from your local service center.

Did You Know Facts about Catalysts.

  • A Catalytic Converter (or Cat) is an Exhaust Emissions Device located underneath a vehicle. It uses a combination of heat and precious metals to promote a chemical reaction, which breaks down harmful gases, making the emissions less detrimental to the environment.
  • Inferior quality catalysts will require replacing every 30,000 miles.
  • From November 13th 2009, it will be illegal for inferior non-homologated catalytic convertors to be fitted or sold.
  • We have over 2200 applications in stock.
  • The operating temperature of a cat is between 350 to 400 degrees Celsius.
  • Catalytic Converters have been a legal requirement on all petrol cars since 1993.
  • The European Emission Control Legislation enforces the limits for toxic emissions.
  • A cat is located close to the car's engine for heat purposes.
  • An Emissions report is required for all emissions failures, as this gives an indication how the car is running.
  • A Cat isn't designed to get a vehicle through its MOT. A Cats purpose is to reduce the amount of harmful gases being released into the atmosphere!
