A foreword for Cars:
The Vortex™ stainless steel performance exhaust has been fitted on rally cars & racing cars that have been used in motorsport & autosport.
This performance exhaust technology unlocks power that has previously been unobtainable due to exhaust backpressure. Backpressure stifles engines and increases as a negative force with every engine modification you make until you are forced to deal with the exhaust to reduce it. The only way to reduce exhaust backpressure is to fit a Vortex™ Exhaust Sport Resonator. A Vortex™ Exhaust is far more effective than any straight through exhaust made from stainless steel or anything else, or indeed any sport Resonator in the market. Our Vortex™ Exhaust Sport Resonator can withstand temperatures above 800 degrees centigrade. Material chosen gives the Vortex™ Exhaust Sport Resonator the capacity to maintain exhaust sound within racing limits and deliver the optimum performance guaranteed.
In racing as a driver or tuner you will immediately notice the extra power and torque that the vortex delivers. This is probably the most cost effective power upgrade you will find and the only peformance exhaust that will deliver a serious increase in power and torque. With the backpressure reduced you will be able to tune high performance or racing cars better, to an optimum, to achieve the ultimate power curves from the engine. An engine with a Vortex™ Exhaust will always outperform any identical engine fitted with any other performance exhaust system.
In 2005 we sponsored a rally car in the British Rally Championships, tuned by Nick Dickson on NMD Motorsport and driven by Scott Vogl. Nick, well respected as a rally car tuner, is one of the converted in the rallying fraternity. He was reluctant to fit the Vortex™ Exhaust Resonator in the exhaust system in the beginning because he believed he had the best exhaust he could get, which was a Mongoose exhaust. He decided to fit the Vortex™ Exhaust Resonator on for the third rally race and was amazed by the extra power and 30lb extra torque he got from our standard Vortex™ Exhaust Resonator. By the following race, The Jim Clark, we had developed the Vortex™ Exhaust Sport Resonator and this gave the Evo 6 an even further 30Ibs torque.
The run in Jim Clark course saw Scott Vogl beat works rally cars in his N class Evo 6 on various stages. Scott said the new Vortex™ Sport exhaust had changed the rally racing car completely. It gave 1000 revs of extra throttle at the top end, and while changing gear and he was able to power away in higher gears without changing down. The turbo was smoother and operated at lower revs.
Hundreds of high performance cars have had stainless steel Vortex™ Exhausts fitted, each with a very impressive gain in performance. These range from 120bhp cars to 1000bhp. Whatever high performance car you have you will gain a performance and power never attainable before by an exhaust system.
The applications are almost unlimited and include the following:
- Performance Cars
- Supercars
- Rally Cars
- Sportscars
- Fast Road Car
- Touring Cars
- Drifters
- Hill Climbers
- Muscle Cars
- Off-Road 4x4s
- Kit Cars
Ordering and fitting
Ordering Performance or Custom Exhausts
Vortex™ Exhaust Resonators are available from stock at our fitting agents. If you contact us directly we will point you in the direction of our nearest agent to you.
Fitting Performance or Custom Exhausts
Our agents are experts at fitting stainless steel exhausts or modifying exhaust systems to fit our Vortex™ Exhaust Resonators. The time taken to fit a Vortex™ Exhaust will depend on the type of car you have. Often the work will take less than 90 minutes, but some complicated double exhaust systems will take longer.

Questions relating to cars
Q. Will the vortex fit all cars?
A. In nearly every case the Vortex™ exhaust Resonator is smaller than the main muffler it replaces so there is no problem fitting.
Q. Do all cars of the same make and model have the same gain in power and torque?
A. No, some cars do better than others. This will depend on the condition of your engine and the version of Engine management System (EMS). EMS is a field of continual development and manufacturers often modify EMS systems several times during the production life of a car. So two cars from the same year won’t necessarily have the same performance.
Q. Should I upgrade the size of my exhaust when fitting a vortex?
A. Only if the pipe has a diameter less than 2” to begin with. Bigger is not necessarily better! Sometimes it can reduce your low down performance if you go for a bigger pipe size. The front pipe must not be bigger in diameter than the Vortex™ exhaust Resonator inlet diameter and the diameter of the part of the exhaust system and tail pipe.
Q. Will a Vortex™ exhaust Resonator work on an exhaust system that is bigger than 3” on high performance cars?
A. Yes, but you need a specially constructed Vortex™ Sport Exhaust?.
Q. If I have a v-engine and two independent exhaust pipes do I need two vortex mufflers?
A. Not necessarily. You could branch into a y-piece. Alternatively you can fit two mufflers in parallel.
Q. Will it work on a rotary engine?
A. Yes, with results as good as other engines, if not better, because you may have very high backpressure initially.
Q. Will I get a fuel saving on a very high performance car?
A. Yes, however, if you have an engine management system that does not change fuelling because it is not self-learning you will need to get the software remapped to save fuel, and have the engine running at its best.
Q. What if I have other modifications such as upgraded air filter, intercooler, new chip, new headers, or an enhanced turbo?
A. The vortex muffler will complement and increase your performance further as these modifications will do nothing to alleviate backpressure.
General questions
Q. What happens if I fit a Vortex™ exhaust to a vehicle with a turbocharged engine?
A. You will get a lower boost threshold and the turbo vanes it will accelerate faster. That will give much more boost and a smooth acceleration to you engine. You will know immediately that a major change has occurred.
Q. What happens if there is an Exhaust Gas Return valve fitted to the exhaust?
A. This will not affect the function or any of the benefits of the Vortex™ exhaust?.
