Vortex ExhaustsTM work well on all hackney Carriages. Most our testing was done on a TX1 Hackney carriage and a full stainless steel vortex system was developed for this. One test involved running two Hackney Carriages around the M25; one with a Vortex ExhaustTM and the other without. The Vortex ExhaustTM taxi went approximately 80 miles further on the same amount of fuel. Another test involved running a cab on five litres of diesel to see how far it would go in the traffic in London. This was done for a whole week with the standard exhaust fitted and a week with the Vortex ExhaustTM fitted. The Vortex Exhaust’s worst mileage was considerably better than the standard exhaust’s best mileage. Overall there was an average saving of approximately 14% in fuel. Lastly we tested the TX1 in back- to-back tests in test houses used by major vehicle manufacturers and one showed a marked improvement in fuel economy running against a modified Euro-3 test and the other showed a continual improvement in power with the Vortex ExhaustTM until the end of the test. The conclusion was the vehicle was improving all the time and the optimum power still had not been reached in the test.
A Peugeot Hdi was tested on a dynamometer and the power increase was 15bhp with 20Ibs additional torque. The driver reported a better than 15% improvement in fuel economy and a 10-fold drop in emissions at his MOT.
